Captured deep within the frozen walls of Maligne Canyon in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, this photograph reveals a perspective that many visitors unknowingly walk beneath. While winter transforms the canyon into a world of towering ice formations and frozen waterfalls, it was the canyon itself that caught my attention.

Looking skyward, centuries of flowing water had sculpted the limestone into sweeping curves and smooth walls, each layer shaped by countless seasons of erosion. The narrow opening above allowed soft winter light to pour through, illuminating the canyon's natural architecture in a way that lasted only for a moment.

It's easy to become focused on the destination—the famous viewpoints, the frozen cascades, the landmarks everyone comes to see. Yet some of the most remarkable moments happen when curiosity encourages us to pause and notice something unexpected.
