Water

Captured during a hike through the Canadian Rockies, this photograph began as part of a much wider landscape. Surrounded by mountain peaks and crystal-clear alpine water, it wasn't the view across the lake that held my attention, but what was happening at my feet.

Looking into the water, smooth stones rested quietly beneath the surface while gentle ripples caught the light above. Reflections of the sky and surrounding forest drifted across the lake, blending with the rocks below to create a scene that felt almost dreamlike. For a moment, it became difficult to tell where the water ended and the reflection began.

What drew me to this image wasn't a dramatic landscape or a famous viewpoint, but the way nature constantly reshapes itself. Every ripple altered the reflections. Every passing breeze created a completely different composition. The photograph captures a moment that existed for only a fraction of a second before disappearing forever.

It's easy to search for the perfect vista when exploring somewhere new. Yet some of the most memorable discoveries happen when we pause long enough to appreciate the quieter details—a reflection, a pattern, or the way light dances across the surface of the water.
